This year, the unique boy / girl tournament will see 4 boys teams (Shelburne, Hants East, West Kings, and Sir John A) and 4 girls teams (Shelburne, Yarmouth, West Kings, and Pugwash) take the court.
Games start at noon time on Friday, with the home team Rebels playing the Yarmouth Vikings in girls action, and will continue throughout the day with 5 more games. Opening ceremonies will take place at 6:00 Friday evening, December 2, and a student/player dance will be held at the high school Friday night as well. Six more games continue Saturday morning starting at 9:30, with an Alumni game set to conclude the tournament at 7:00 pm.
Shelburne boys coaches Tim Locke and Andrew Blades expect a competitive tournament this year. Their team is in good shape this season with a number of grade 12 boys, and a good mix of grade 11's returning. They are in the hunt to win the Provincial D2 tournament. Shelburne's girls team, coached by John Huskilson, Doug Hartley, Jerry Jacklyn, and Paula Christie have started the season off at 4-0, and should also be in contention.
