Barrington to welcome NHL Legends from New York Rangers

BARRINGTON -Some more local players are needed as the Municipality of Barrington prepares to bring the NHL Legends from the New York Rangers to the Barrington Arena on March 20.

A local legends gets a friendly tug from a Boston Bruin legend during the 2013 visit of the NHL legends.

Suzy Atwood, who is coordinating the event, says they are still looking for interested people to play on the Local Legends Team.

The cost is $500 a player (which includes 25 tickets to the game) and offers a chance to play against the NHL Legends which includes Ron Duguay, Bernie Nicholls, Rick Middleton, Stephan Matteau, Darius Kasparaitis and Ron Grescher.

So far, Jordan Scott, Jody Crook, Shayne Carter Devine, Brendan Chetwynd, and Darren Hudson have signed on to be a part of the local legends team and take on the former Rangers.

In 2013, the Barrington Arena hosted a similar event featuring former Boston Bruins alumni.

This year dressing room passes will again be offered during intermission for autographs, photos and meeting the stars.

VIP Reception Passes will also be offered for a post game reception at the Barrington Curling Club following the game. There people will get to mingle with the stars of the New York Rangers alumni team, get autographs and photos. Food and beverages will be served.

The following day, a hockey clinic with the stars will be held at the Barrington Arena for children ages 9-13. (Must be registered with a minor hockey association or high school hockey team to register)

People can call Atwood at 902-637-8166 or go to the group’s Facebook page for more information.
