Clark’s Harbour Peewee AA Foggies win championship at tournament

CLARK'S HARBOUR, N.S. – The Clark's Harbour Foggies took home the banner on July 22-23 weekend with a 3-0 record during a tournament with their Bantam B opponents from Liverpool and Clark's Harbour.

The Peewee Foggies opened with a 16-9 victory over Liverpool in Game 1. Vinny Surette and Jacob Atwood combined for the win on the mound, while Ethan Brannen paced the attack with a double and single at the plate. Destinee Penney added two singles, with Game MVP Brody Goreham adding a two-run single for the victors. Colby Williams picked up the game MVP honors for Liverpool with two singles.

  Game 2 saw Liverpool edge the Clark's Harbour Bantam squad 11-10.  Gavin O'Connell paced the offense with three singles for the Bantam Foggies, while pitcher William Nickerson picked up the Game MVP.  For Liverpool, Game MVP Lewis Robertson picked up the win in relief, while Nate Killiam added two singles at the plate.

  Game 3 was a high scoring affair as the Peewees outlasted the Bantam Foggies by a score of 23-12.  Ethan Brannen and Drew Goreham combined for the win for the Peewee Foggies.  Game MVP Jacob Matthews and Quade Shand had two singles each for the winners.  For the Bantam squad, Game MVP Zach Williams and Abby Atwood both belted out two singles.

  The semi-final action proved to be exciting as the Liverpool squad walked it off in the bottom of the last inning against the Bantam Foggies for a 7-6 victory, and clinched a berth in the final game versus the Peewee Foggies. Winning pitcher and Game MVP John Legge pitched five innings in relief for Liverpool, while Mitchell Anthony added a double and single at the plate.  For Clark's Harbour Game MVP Cameron Kerr pounded out a double and two singles.

  The championship game was all Peewee Foggies from start to finish as they defeated Liverpool 14-4 in 5 innings.  Winning pitcher Drew Goreham went the distance on the bump, while adding two singles to take the Game MVP honors.  Vinny Surette belted a triple and single, with Jacob Matthews slamming two singles as well.  Game MVP Colin Long hammered a triple and double for Liverpool.

  Vinny Surette picked up the tournament MVP for his stellar defensive play throughout the weekend. 

This is the first tournament banner of the season for the Peewee Foggies and ran their record to 19 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie.
