Ice Dogs rebound after big loss

The Barrington Sea Star Ice Dogs split a pair of road games with a loss in New Waterford Jan. 27 and a win in Parrsboro on Jan. 28.

On Saturday, the Ice Dogs ran into penalty problems and gave up six power play goals in the second and third periods on route to an 11-2 thrashing at the hands of the New Waterford Jets.

After going into the second period with a two-all tie, the road weary and short staffed Ice Dogs lost control of the game.

With trip after trip to the penalty box, the Central division leading Jets took advantage for the easy win.

Dustin Goreham and Graydon Mood each scored for the Dogs while Darrell Dixon and Josh Merrick shared the goaltending duties.

On Sunday the Ice Dogs rebounded for an 8-3 victory over the Fundy Phantoms.

Brandon Crowell scored four goals, James Swaine netted two and Dustin Goreham and Jordy Atkinson had one each. Darrell Dixon was solid in goal in a game that once again got rough in the third with three fights in a 30 second span.

The Ice Dogs finish up their regular season with games Feb. 10 in Barrington versus the Halifax Thunder and Feb. 11 in Digby against the Valley Keiths in what could be a preview of the first round of the playoffs.
