Investigators probing fish plant accident in Port LaTour

Department of Labour investigators are probing an industrial accident that saw an employee at the Ocean Trout Farms plant in Upper Port LaTour suffer a serious injury to his arm from a conveyor belt on Friday, Feb. 28.

Paramedics and firefighters from several departments were called to the scene to help the injured worker on Friday.

A department spokesperson said the injuries to the man were not life-threatening.

 The Occupational Health and Safety division of the Department of Labour is continuing its investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson said no orders have been issued to the company at this time.
