A Shelburne County woman is dead after her car slammed into a tanker truck on Tuesday afternoon.
The woman was identified as 33-year-old Ronna Goreham of Upper Clyde Shelburne County.
The crash closed a section of the 103 highway in Shelburne County to vehicles until 8 a.m. Wednesday morning as crews fought fires and then attempted to clean up the site.
The highway was reopened to one lane on Wednesday morning.
RCMP at the scene of the roadblock said that the road was closed to keep people safe.
RCMP say the car crossed the centre line and collided with the truck, that was carrying 32,000 litres of gasoline and 9,000 litres of diesel fuel.
Fires burned throughout much of the night as firefighters from across Shelburne County were called in. Firefighters poured thousands of gallons of foam and water on the flames.
The next morning revealed a charred landscape surrounding the remains of the tanker truck. Environmental crews were on the scene cleaning up the site.
RCMP are still investigating the cause of the crash.
