The Shelburne campus for the Nova Scotia Community College celebrated its class of 2010 during a convocation ceremony at Shelburne Community Centre, last Thurs.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 80 of its graduates who earned diplomas and certificates in the last academic year including Library Information Technology, Business Administration, the Adult Learning Program, Plumbing, Continuing Care Assistant, Office Administration and Electric Construction and Industrial.
Gina Harlow was this year’s campus valedictorian, a graduate of NSCC’s Business Administration program.
“You can do anything you put your mind to,” she said in her speech. “When I first thought of coming I told myself, I was too old, not smart enough, couldn’t afford the tuition but with my families support I filled out my application.”
Harlow is feeling confident now and is excited to begin her future in business.
“NSCC has been the greatest experience of my life,” she said. “The combination of the location and small size of the campus and the tremendous support from staff and instructors made me feel like I was part of a family.”
