In game one, the Ice Dogs scored three unan-swered goals in the third period to seal a 7-3 vic-tory over the Valley Keiths.
Dustin Goreham led the way for the Dogs with two goals and a helper. Travis Smith had one goal and three as-sists, with single goals and assists from Brandon Crowell and Jesse Hop-kins. Singles markers from James Swaine and Benton Gallagher and two assists from Graydon Mood rounded out the scoresheet. Christian Boudreau turned aside 23 shots in goal for the Sea Star squad.
In game two, a late goal by Jesse Hopkins gave the Ice Dogs a 5-4 victory for Barrington over the Clare Lions. The win was the Ice Dogs’ first in three tries against Clare this season and put the two teams in a tie atop the Western Division.
The game was a wide open see-saw battle with neither team giving up until the final buzzer. Clare led 2-1 after the first only to see the Ice Dogs score three in the second for a 4-2 lead after two periods. Tyler Sy-monds netted two goals for the Ice Dogs, with Brandon Crowell scoring one and setting up two, and Graydon Mood hav-ing a goal and an assist.
Coach McCarthy said that both teams are about equally talented and all three games hav-ing been close matches that could have gone ei-ther way.
The Ice Dogs will take a break for the start of the lobster season and have no more games un-til January.
