The six team, two pool, round robin NSSAF base-ball championship tour-nament was hosted in Cape Breton on Oct. 6 and 7.

Competing in pool one, the Barons opened up with a 15-5 win over Auburn Drive in five in-nings. Jeremy Hallett was the winning pitcher. The Barons were led of-fensively by Shannon Smith with a homerun and a double, Matt d'En-tremont, two doubles, Keith Nickerson, three singles and Andy Swim, two singles.

In Game two, Barring-ton shaded Riverview 4-3 to finish first in their pool. Jessie Simpson tossed the complete game victory. At the plate, Matt d'Entremont had a triple and a single, with a double and a single from Shannon Smith.

In semi-final action, Barrington edged host Glace Bay 3-2 for a crack at the championship. Shannon Smith went the distance for the mound victory. He also had the game winning triple in the bottom of the sixth that brought in Jeremy Hallett from first base to snap a 2-2 tie.

Also leading the Bar-ons offensively were Jer-emy Hallett with an RBI double in the third in-ning, and Scott Symonds, with an RBI single.

In the championship game against Riverview, the Barons took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back, scoring six more runs on their way to a 9-0 vic-tory. Keith Nickerson tossed a complete game shutout. At bat, Shan-non Smith led the way with a triple and a sin-gle. Andy Swim knocked out three singles, with two from Devan Nicker-son.

This was the first pro-vincial baseball title in the school's history. The team finished with an overall 7-0 record (includ-ing the regional champi-onships).

The victory is even more sweet considering Barrington was the only Division 2 school in the tournament. The five other teams were from Division 1 schools.
