Fenton Cunningham and Russell Atkinson were first across the finish line in the 12th annual Cape Sable Island Iron Man Row on Sept. 17, clocking in at 3:55.
Seven teams competed in the gruelling endurance race, which got underway at 6:20 on the western side of the causeway.
On the water, chase boats followed the seven dories around the island while on land, fans followed, stopping at every vantage point along the shoreline.
This was the eighth time Cunningham and Atkinson captured the iron man title. Placing second was Ward Nickerson and David Atkinson (4:17).
Nicole Hurlburt and Natalie Jones was the first ladies team to cross the finish (4:26), with Nicole Nickerson and Gayle Atkinson just a minute behind (4:27).
Junior rowers Stefan Nickerson and Josh Atwood clocked in at 4:39 with the mixed team of Joy Nickerson and Steve Goreham finishing in 5:33.
Rounding out the field were Herb Purdy and Ray Lloyd who completed the row in 5:50.
