World champion Shelburne County lumberjacking comes indoors at the Osprey Theatre when Scott’s Timber Show takes the stage on Sept. 29 starting 8 p.m.

Usually the reserve of outdoor festivals and events, the log rolling, wood chopping Scotts of Barrington bring their show under the theatre lights. The Scott’s Timber Show features an exciting showcase of turn of the century lumberjack skills, infused with a rich sense of history and a sharp comic edge.

Six-time World Champion Logroller Darren Hudson performs in the show. Darren has appeared on David Letterman and as far away as Germany, Norway, Sweden and Australia to compete and demonstrate his skills.

Darren is a member of the Scott family of Barrington, which goes back five generations into the logging industry of Shelburne County. His uncle Phil Scott is also a champion who holds nine world titles and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. Darren even made it to Hollywood as Steve Martin’s stunt double in Cheaper By the Dozen II.

The audience will be transported back in time to the days when Shelburne County’s rivers were alive with the sounds of the log drivers, moving their logs down the river to the sawmills. The show will captivate as the lumberjacks pit their considerable skills against each other.

It’ll be a night of humor, history and heritage when the Scott’s Timber Show takes the Osprey stage on Saturday Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for students and can be purchased in advance at the Whirligig Book Shop (875-1117) or at the door on the night of the event.
