PGA Championship Round 4 Live Updates, Leaderboard: Who Will Break Out of Leaderboard Logjam?

It’s been a while since a major championship produced a truly dramatic finish. It’s going to take something special for anyone to run away with the 2024 PGA Championship.

Starting Sunday, 15 players will be within five shots of the lead. Colin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele, -15, a shot clear of Sahith Theegala, stood tough on Saturday despite a rough start. Behind them, we had a traffic jam.

Degala promptly tied both Schaffel and Morikawa with an early birdie on Sunday afternoon with a deep birdie putt. It’s early in the final round at Valhalla in Louisville, but it’s shaping up to be a wild Sunday.

long live14 updates

  • Shane Lowry moved to 14-under

The top five players are now separated by two shots after Shane Lowry birdied the par 3 No. 3.

  • DeChambeau is now two behind Schauffele

Bryson DeChambeau hit a fantastic second shot, setting up an easy birdie putt on No. 2 to move to 14-under and Xander Schauffele two shots back.

  • Xander Schauffele birds no. 1

Xander Schauffele birdied his first hole to claim the under 16s and was one shot clear of Colin Morikawa and Sahit Thikala.

Schaeffel’s second shot went over the bunker in front of the green, but rolled to give him a decent look for the birdie he converted.

  • Sahit Dhigala gets to 15-under with a 55-footer

Sahith Theegala joins Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa at 15-under with a remarkable 55-foot birdie putt on No. 1.

  • Here we go…

Everyone is now on course, including co-chairs Colin Morikawa and Sander Schaffel.

Schaeffel’s run on No. 1 was tricked into perfect rough; Morikawa found a fair way.

Above, Bryson DeChambeau had a good birdie on No. 1 to get within a shot of the lead but pulled it. In this day and age of red numbers, those opportunities cannot be missed.

  • A logjam occurs

With some of those on the leaderboard now on course, 17 players are now within five shots of the lead. That includes Justin Thomas (-11), from the greenside bunker at no. Left at 3.

  • Valhalla has snakes

There is no need for a ground crew when you get him…

  • As chasers Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa begin their laps, Lee Hodges makes a move early. He is now -11 and four shots behind after a birdie on No. 1.

Meanwhile, Scotty Scheffler, despite being out of contention for the win after his poor round on Saturday, is still hitting shots like this.

  • What score does it take to win?

With Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa at 15 under at the start, what score is it going to take to win today? David Duvall said on the CBS broadcast that the under-19s are winning. Of all the red numbers on the board to date, the guess here is even lower — under 20.

That would be 66 from the leaders, plus 63, which includes all 12-year-olds or better:

    Shovel (-15)
    Morikawa (-15)
    Dikala (-14)
    Lori (-13)
    DeChambeau (-13)
    Hovland (-13)
    Rose (-12)
    MacIntyre (-12)

  • Scotty Scheffler is a man

A day after his first over-par round since last August, Scotty Scheffler started the 4th round home-hum. A bogey at first, followed by a missed six-footer for birdie leaves him at 6-under. Who could blame him for coming back down to earth after Friday’s incident, right?

  • We already have 64

England’s Jordan Smith got out early and showed there were still scores in Valhalla. Behind six birdies, an eagle and a bogey, Smith carded 7-under 6

  • Golf can be brutal

Brooks Koepka threw a javelin for seventh place … and this happened:

A chance knock for birdie turned into par. Koepka is 3-under for the round, but at 7-under for the tournament, never again.

  • Driveable on 13th

Here’s something to look out for later in the day: The 349-yard par-4 13th is obviously drivable:

He finishes that short putt for eagle.

This can be interesting later on when leaders need to move someone.

  • The final round is underway

The final round of the 2024 PGA Championship is underway, and yes, there are scores to be had today. There are already red figures on the leaderboard, including Brooks Koepka, who is 2-under for his round through four holes. If this is any indication, it will be a shootout to win for those on the leaderboard.
