An IDF spokesman later told CNN that the military was responding to intelligence about an imminent attack.
“We went into Jenin during the day,” the spokesman said, adding that the decision to operate during the day rather than overnight, as the IDF usually does, showed how “urgent” the task was.
When the forces arrived at the targeted building they “came under heavy fire and opened fire.”
The suspects were barricaded inside a house when the IDF arrived, “so additional forces used an anti-tank shoulder-fired missile.”

Following the attack, the Defense Ministry said Israel was increasing its defenses against Palestinian terror attacks.
