Christmas in Bridgetown - Community does Christmas right with cookies, tree lighting, Jingle Bells

Festive spirit alive and well

BRIDGETOWN - The steps and sidewalk at the municipal building were packed Friday evening Dec. 1 as kids, parents, and grandparents alike turned out for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

There was no snow, but at least the rain held off as Annapolis County Warden Timothy Habinski welcomed the crowd and the kids all lined up on the steps to sing Jingle Bells before the big countdown to light up the tree.

When the lights came on, most of the kids and more than a few parents crowded inside for cookies, oranges, apples, and hot chocolate.

Outside it was Midnight Madness with numerous stores open until late and there was a book celebration at the Bridgetown Library with more food and fun.
