Celine Dion ‘no longer has muscle control’ in battle with incurable erectile dysfunction – sister reveals singer still has ‘dreams’ of returning to stage

Legendary Canadian singer Celine Dion no longer has ‘control over her muscles’, says her older sister Claudette.

A year after the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker was forced to cancel her world tour last December, her sibling, 74, suggested Celine, 55, may take some time to return to the stage following a battle with a neurological disorder known as a difficult person. syndrome.

Selen’s condition, which is progressive and incurable, causes the body to attack its own nerve cells and severely impair movement.

She works hard, but she has no control over her muscles. What breaks my heart is that she’s always decent,’ Claudette told 7Jours. She always works hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You will do well, you will do well.’

She continued: ‘It’s true that in our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. At what level? I do not know.’

While research into this condition is ongoing, its rare progress is slow.

Claudette added: ‘The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is a muscle. This is what gets me. Because it’s a 1 in a million case, scientists haven’t done as much research because it doesn’t affect many people.’

Celine’s family charity, Fondation Maman Dion, has been inundated with messages of support for the star.

Claudette said: ‘Some have lost hope because it’s a disease that is not well known. If only you knew the number of phone calls to the Foundation about Celine! People tell us they love her and are praying for her. She receives many messages, gifts and blessed crosses.’

Although Claudette had previously worked with ‘the best researchers in the field’, her sister had seen little improvement in her condition.

He told Le Journal de Montreal: ‘We haven’t found any medicine that works, but it’s important to have hope.’

In October, Claudette said Celine was no longer confined to a wheelchair to get around and still planned to return to the show.

Sufferers of Difficult Person Syndrome (SPS) can turn their victims into ‘human statues’, causing them to struggle to walk or talk.

The condition, thought to affect only one in a million, can also lead to spasms that generate enough force to break a bone.

Typically, patients are diagnosed between the ages of 30-50 and are mostly women.

The star revealed her diagnosis in a tearful Instagram post in December 2022, and a few months later canceled her world tour, which was scheduled to begin in late 2023.

In September, a video titled ‘Celine Dion’s family reveals how she died’ appeared on YouTube, in which an unidentified narrator says her terminal illness is ‘progressing very quickly’. The video was reposted on TikTok, garnering over 430,000 views.

The clip sparked rumors on social media that the Grammy Award-winning artist is now confined to a wheelchair and struggles to move.

However, Celine’s sister denied that this was true.

‘I know she is strong morally and mentally. She’s never depressed…she’s actually happy to be alive. We will get through this,’ his sister Claudette told the French-language site showbizz.net.

As for the rumours, Claudette said: ‘Why are they saying she’s in a wheelchair? Why do they say she has cancer? Why do you find out?

Despite Celine Dion’s pain, according to her sister, she has not given up on her plans to return to the stage.

Earlier this year, Claudette told showbizz.net that the icon is recovering in Denver and closely following his doctors’ care plan because he wants to come back, that’s for sure.
