Barons hosting regional boys hockey championship

In league play-offs, the Barons eliminated the Yarmouth Vikings to advance to the league championship series against the Par-en-Bas Sharks. The Sharks won the best of three series 2-0.

The Barrington Barons are hosting the NSSAF Western Region Senior Boys Division II Hockey Championship tournament at the Barrington Arena on March 2 and 3.

The four team, round robin tournament opens Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m. with host Barrington facing off against Central Kings.

West Kings meets North Kings Education Centre (NKEC) at 2:45 p.m., rounding out the roster. (See full schedule below) The championship game is slated for 4:15 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

The Barons go into the tournament with a 10-2 regular season record in the South West High School Hockey League for a second place finish for the season. In league play-offs, the Barons eliminated the Yarmouth Vikings to advance to the league championship series against the Par-en-Bas Sharks. The Sharks won the best of three series 2-0, claiming the banner on Feb. 24. The Barons have also competed in a number of tournaments this year.

Admission to the tournament is free. The Barons are hoping the stands will be full to cheer them on. The top teams will advance to the provincial championship tournament being hosted by NKEC in March.
