Barons can still make provincials after second place showing

The Barrington Barons settled for a second place finish in the NSSAF Western Region Division II Senior Boys Hockey Tournament, hosted by Barrington on March 2 and 3.

The Barons posted a 2-2 record in the four team tournament, opening with a 4-2 win over the Central Kings Gators. Jesper Andersson, Skylar O’Connell and Ethan Reashore were the marksmen for the Barons.

In game two, West Kings edged Barrington 3-2.  The Barons came back with a 7-1 win over the North Kings Titans in the final round robin game to advance to the championship game. Stefan Link posted two markers for Barrington with single goals from Brett Sears, Jesper Andersson, Jacob Symonds, Cameron Atwood and Kegin Penney.

In the banner contest, also against the Titans, the Barons lost 4-1. Cameron Atwood scored the lone goal for the Barons.

The Barons are now headed into two game, total goal provincial qualifier action against Eastern Shore. Game one is slated for Monday, March 17 in Liverpool at 4:45 p.m., with game two on tap for March 19 in Eastern Shore (time to be announced). The winner will advance to the provincial championship tournament being hosted by North Kings on March 21 to 23.
