The River Rats were once again involved in a tight one-goal game on Jan. 15, with a 3-2 win over the Spryfield Attack at Hants Exhibition Arena.
During that game, Mitchell Urquhart put the Rats up 1-0 after the opening period on an assist from Tyler Comeau before Logan Cleveland scored just 1:43 into the second to put the Rats up 2-0.
The lead did not last as the Attack came back with a pair of goals, one of them just eight seconds after the River Rats went up 2-0 to send the game into the third period tied at 2.
The River Rats' Taran Bailey was sent to the penalty box for roughing with 4:03 left in the contest. The Rats shrugged the penalty off and Kyle Armsworthy scored short-handed with 2:44 left in the game to give the Rats a 3-2 win.
The game was a low-key penalty affair until the game winner was scored and after that, several penalties were called in the final 1:57 of the contest.
On Jan. 14, the River Rats were stopped cold by the Jaguars 4-2.
The Avon River Rats will close out their regular season Feb. 8, but will play six games before then, with four games against the bottom half of the league standings.
