Ice Dogs meeting Lions

The Barrington Sea Star Ice Dogs are facing off against the Clare Lions in the best of seven west division final in the Nova Scotia Junior C Hockey League.

The series opens this Friday (Feb. 24) in Barrington at 8 p.m., with game two scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Ice Dogs wrapped up the best of semi-final series against the South Shore Wild on Feb. 18 with a 3-1 record.

Barrington took the series lead in game three on Feb. 17, posting a hat trick in the third for a 6-2 win. Tyler Quinlan led the way with two goals,   with singles from Andy Swim, Brent Symonds, Matt Goodwin and Adam Kenney.  Swim also had two assists. Jared Nickerson turned aside 22 shots for the win in net.

The Ice Dogs wrapped up the series on Feb. 18 with a 5-2 victory. Tyler Nickerson, Matt Goodwin, Andy Swim, Adam Kenney and Chad Newell were the marksmen for Barrington. Jared Nickerson was sharp again in goal.

Ice Dogs’ coach Tyler Symonds gave his team full marks for the series win and added that the discipline was great and the effort was there when needed.

Symonds also noted the series against the Lions should be a good one, with a great rivalry existing between the two teams over the years.

The series opened this past weekend with two games in Barrington. The series continues in Clare this Friday (March 2). Game start is 8:15 p.m.  Game four is slated for Saturday (March 3) at 7:45 p.m.
