Lockeport will once again be the focus of a unique festival of women and song this weekend.
The Harmony Bazaar Festival will highlight dozens of female performers, including Canadian R&B songstress Jully Black who will perform on Saturday night.
The festival is brimming with talented performers as well as workshops to help the up and comer break into the music scene.
There will be many off-stage events surrounding the festival as well; everything from a vocal workshop to a partial capo workshop for guitar players.
Peggy O’Malley, belly dancer will put on a show along with other dancers from the Halifax area.
The after party is planned to be pumping with the sensational Theresa Malenfant performing for the dance. Her mastery behind the mike has brought her back by very popular demand.
“I am super pumped for this year’s lineup,” said artistic director Errin Williams-Spidle.
Festival organizers announced earlier this month that multiple Juno awarding winning Jully Black would be the headliner for the festiva. Famous for energetic R&B and pop hits like “Seven Day Fool” and “Running” the festival will be Black’s only Nova Scotian performance.
“Be ready to dance and have an out-of-your-seats kind of experience at this year’s festival; what with the amazing R&B talent of Jully Black and her full band, and many other incredible women artists this year’s festival is going to be so much fun,” exclaims Williams-Spidle.
An inspiring triple threat (singer, songwriter, performer), Black’s impressive accomplishments include a multitude of Juno nominations, including winning the 2008 Juno award for R&B/soul recording of the year for “Revival”, several Gold and Platinum records, and being dubbed “Canada’s Queen of R&B.”
