NSCC Graduation in Shelburne

Student’s walked across the stage last week to collect the Nova Scotia Community College diploma or certificate.

Spencer Martin was chosen as this years valedictorian for the 2017 NSCC class of 2017.

He is no stranger to the academic environment.  Before coming to the Ocean Resources Fisheries and Aquaculture program, he graduated with honours from the PEI Police Academy.  The father of two small children, Spencer and his wife attended different NSCC campuses this year.  Martin was a focused student who was always willing to help his classmates.  Martin, along with a fellow student attended the Tech Show at the Waterfront Campus.  In April, Martin completed his work term at McGowan Lake Fish Hatchery, Caledonia, where employer Mike McNeil said it was a pleasure to have new people to the job that are so capable and willing to work on their own.

Martin has written and passed entrance exams for the Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture and feels positive about his prospects there. He has applied and been accepted for Border Patrol Officer training if he chooses that career direction.

“You should all be proud,” he said.  “We all did it and had a good time doing it.  Employees would be very lucky to have you.”
