Hants County firefighters join forces to locate missing Lockhartville fisherman
BISHOPVILLE, N.S. – The body of a missing 83-year-old fisherman was located by RCMP officers and firefighters in the wee morning hours of April 20.
“It’s disheartening,” said Paul Goulden, owner of Goulden Shell in Shelburne.
He found out the next morning that someone had forced their way into Goulden Shell and stole both goods and money.
It was around 1:15 a.m. on April 19th that someone broke in to the gas station and convenience store.
Cigarettes and cash were taken and the door and all security cameras smashed by the culprit(s).
Goulden estimates about $60,000 was lost by the theft.
“They cut the phone lines before they entered,” said Goulden. “They were pros.”
He said the time the lines were cut was sent to the security company and a time was pinpointed when the robbery took place.
“You try your best to have everything in place and you still get hit,” he said.
RCMP in Shelburne is investigating.
“It is still fresh and we are still working on it,” said Cpl. Darren Stevens.
He asks if anyone saw anything suspicious to contact RCMP at 902-875-2490 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
