Pickets in Bridgetown: Teachers strike in front of McNeil’s old high school
BRIDGETOWN - Teachers from across Annapolis County showed up at Premier Stephen McNeil’s old high school Friday, but they weren’t there to teach.
Barrington/Port Latour Fire Departments responded to a house fire in Upper Port La Tour shortly before 1 p.m. on Jan. 28.
They requested the aid of the Shelburne Fire Department.
The fire department was able to beat back the flames but the home was completely destroyed on the inside by the smoke and fire.
"It was totally destroyed by fire," said Cpl. Mike O'Callahagn with the Barrington RCMP. "Some walls were burned completely through."
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
The fire was fought by firefighters from Barrington Port La Tour FD, Island Barrington Passage FD, Port Clyde FD, Woods Harbour/Shag Harbour FD, Shelburne FD, West Pubnico FD while Eel Brook FD stood by in the Barrington Fire Hall. Other assistance came from EHS, Nova Scotia Power, RCMP, Yarmouth Dispatch and The Fire Marshall.
