WINDSOR, N.S. – Bluegrass fans can look forward to a BOGO deal in Windsor this spring, with The Slocan Ramblers and Alan Jeffries bringing a double bill performance to the Mermaid Theatre

The two up-and-coming bluegrass performers will share the stage on May 6, 2017 at 7 p.m., which is sure to be a must watch for bluegrass fans.

The Slocan Ramblers are described as Canada's young bluegrass band to watch.

According to the band’s website, the Ramblers are rooted in the tradition, fearlessly creative, and possess a bold, dynamic sound.

It also says they’ve built a reputation for energetic live shows and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan.

On their new album, Coffee Creek, The Slocan Ramblers blend lightning fast and devilishly intricate instrumentals with the sawdust-thick vocals of singer Frank Evans.

Alan Jeffries, a Nova Scotia-based artist is well known to Canadian music fans from his childhood days performing on bluegrass stages around the Maritimes and more recently from his years of touring with renowned acts including David Myles.

In 2013, Jeffries returned to his bluegrass roots to launch his solo career and debut album, Coffee 'til Midnight, which won him the 2014 ECMA 'Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year' award.

Adrian Gross, manager of the Slocan Ramblers said they’re looking forward to the show.

"We've had the pleasure of getting to know Alan through informal picking sessions on the road, (some particularly memorable jams in Nunavut come to mind), and we're thrilled to be sharing the stage with him on his home turf out east," Gross said in an email.

Interestingly, both acts have coffee in their album names, so the audience can expect lots of energy.

Tickets are $27 advance and $29 at the door. You can get tickets online at Ticketpro.ca, by phone at 1-888-311-9090, or in person at Windsor Home Hardware and all other Ticketpro outlets.
