12th annual ACT awards presented at Th'YARC in Yarmouth


Jeremy Watkins takes home Performer of the Year award as well as favourite actor in Beauty & the Beast

YARMOUTH - Judging by the enthusiastic applause that greeted Jeremy Watkins on May 19 when he sprang onto the stage in character as Lumière from Beauty & the Beast, it's no wonder he received the most coveted award of the evening - Performer of the Year.

The 12th annual ACT awards at Th'YARC carried on the tradition of recognizing crowd-chosen favourites.Last year at the end of each locally directed play, the audience was asked to pick their favorite female and male actor. The awards evening recognizes the winners in addition to providing much-appreciated entertainment between award announcements. This year MacKenzie School of Dance dancers, KIDZACT, soloist Bailey Cooke, The Chunk of Funk, soloist Sarah Turpin and dancer Allison Randall, as well as the Farce Group Performers provided the entertainment.

Watkins also received Favourite Actor for his performance in Beauty & the Beast.
