This is the second time this week an emergency department closure has been announced due to the unavailability of a doctor. The emergency department was also closed for much of the day on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority admits staffing can be more challenging during the summer months.
During these emergency department closures the Nova Scotia Health Authority advises people with an emergency to call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
For non-emergency health advice from a registered nurse, call 811. The Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.
