Nominations are being accepted in five categories this year.
The Artisan Entrepreneur Award will recognize a business that has advanced and promoted the re-emergence of the skilled artisan as a valuable and influential force in the business and economic community.
The Exporter of the Year Award will recognize a business that has demonstrated excellence in exporting, has experienced noticeable growth in their overall business as a direct result of entering the global marketplace, and has made a significant contribution to development and growth of the local economy. The winner of the Exporter of the Year Award will be recognized at the Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards luncheon in Halifax in the spring of 2018 where Nova Scotia companies, partners and industry professionals will come together to celebrate exporting success. During that event, one of the companies will be awarded the title of Nova Scotia Exporter of the Year.
The Rising Star Award will recognize a business that is locally owned and has been operating for three years or less, or has had a new owner within the past three years, and has shown innovation, and/or growth and success without our business community.
There will be two Business of the Year awards this year, the first going to a small business (1-15 employees) and the other going to a larger business (16+ employees). These two awards will each recognize a business that has made significant and notable contributions to the community by providing meaningful employment, operational stability, vision, leadership and demonstrated excellence in its sector.
Nominations will be accepted until noon on Sept. 26. The winners will be announced at a gala banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the River Hills Golf & Country Club starting at 6 p.m.
