Pink was the color of the day at the Barrington Arena on Oct. 30 when the BMO Western Hurricanes laced up in support of breast cancer awareness.
With cancer survivor Joyce Swim dropping the ceremonial puck in the contest against the Newbridge Senators, more than $600 was raised for breast cancer research and awareness.
As far as the hockey game went, the Western Hurricanes didn’t disappoint, dropping their opponents 7-1 to move within one point of first place in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.
Dominic O’Halloran led the Hurricanes with a hat trick, while Jordan Messenger posted a pair of goals. Keith Getson had one goal and three assists, with a single goal and two assists from Cameron Jacquard.
The Western Hurricanes will be back at the Barrington Arena on Dec. 4 and 5 to host the Scotsburn Crushers for a pair of games.
The Western Hurricanes had a 10-2 record in the 12 team league as of Oct. 30.
