Barons go 1-2 at NSSAF championship tourney

The Barrington Barons posted a 1-2 record at the NSSAF Division 2 Boys Hockey provincial championship tournament on March 25 to 27.

Four teams competed in the round robin tournament, hosted by the Barons.

The Barons opened the tourney with a 5-3 win over Northeast Kings. Scotland MacKinnon led the Barons with two goals with single markers from Quinn Nickerson, Morgan Messenger and Kegin Penney.

The Barons lost 6-5 in overtime to West Kings in their second game. Morgan Messenger, Colby Greenwood, Jevon Link, Kegin Penney and Cody Nickerson were the Barons’ marksmen.

It was another heartbreaker for the hometown squad in their final game, with Eastern Shore edging the Barons 3-2 in overtime. Tyler Goreham and Scotland MacKinnon scored for the Barons.

In the championship game, Northeast Kings defeated Eastern Shore 7-3 for the banner.
