A Shelburne County man has entered a guilty plea to one count of attempted break in enter, which is a charge stemming from a series of alleged Yarmouth County break and enters in which the RCMP say women’s underwear was stolen.
Michael Jordan Wamback will be back in provincial court on July 24 to set a date for his sentencing. Wamback is still facing 11 other charges in connection to the alleged break-ins.
“The other 11 charges are scheduled for plea that day. Pleas will be entered on at least some of them,” says his lawyer Phil Star.
The charges against Wamback were laid in October 2010. Star says it’s taken a while for this case to weave its way through to court due to issues with disclosure, forensic evidence and discussions on the admissibility of certain evidence.
“Likely there will be no contested proceedings anymore as to the admissibility of certain evidence,” says Star.
The allegations of break and enter before the court are said to have taken place over a five-year period throughout communities in the Municipality of Argyle in Yarmouth County. According to the RCMP, the break-ins took place during daytime hours when the homes were unoccupied. The RCMP said a lot of the homes were unlocked.
