The first chief administrative officer for the Municipality of Barrington has been officially hired.

Rob Frost comes to the municipality from the province’s Municipal Affairs department where he was one of three provincial municipal advisors providing support and guidance to municipalities.

Frost was CAO for  the former Town of Hantsport from late 2012  until January 2015 when he resigned to work for the province.

“I am excited to be coming to Barrington,” says Frost. “I have heard great things about the staff, council and the community as a whole. Barrington has a great base for growth and I am pleased to work with council to help explore future opportunities.”

The Prince Edward Island native has also worked in economic development with Hants Regional Development Authority and has been an active volunteer leading high profile fundraising initiatives, chairing provincial conferences and coaching.

“We are looking forward to having (him) join the municipality and to assume the role of CAO,” says Warden Eddie Nickerson. “His experience will be crucial as we work towards implementing the CAO system.”

Nickerson says one of the big priorities is to move the municipality forward and bring businesses into the area as a priority.

“It’s time to look outside the box rather than do the same old thing,” he says. “It will be good to bring in someone new and reinvigorating.”

Frost begins work March 14.

Right. The only people allowed to do business, shop for groceries, walk their dog on public property or any other activity in Hantsport are friends and relatives of the administration staff who have jobs for life in the former town hall. You would know that if you lived here! Get with the program! lol
