UPDATED: RCMP say missing Shelburne woman found safe

BEAVERDAM – The RCMP issued a media release at 10:35 p.m. Feb. 16 saying a missing 35-year-old woman from Shelburne County has been located and is safe.

Earlier in the day the RCMP sought the public's assistance is locating Marianne Elizabeth Burbine, who they said may also go by the surname Nickerson, from Beaverdam, Shelburne County. She had been last seen Feb. 15 in Gold River heading toward Mahone Bay.

The Shelburne RCMP were treating the matter seriously.

“We take any report of a missing person and treat all of them seriously,” said Sgt. Ben Parry Feb. 16.   

“Her family has not heard from her and police believe her safety may be at risk,” an RCMP media release issued just after 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16.

In the media release saying that the woman had been located, the RCMP thanked the public for their calls and also for sharing the information on social media.

The RCMP say their investigation into the matter is continuing.
