Shelburne RCMP say a 17-year-old passenger has died in a single vehicle crash in Clyde River.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the Roseway Hospital in Shelburne by Emergency Health Services with minor injuries while the 17-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shelburne RCMP are on the scene of the crash on Highway #103 and were assisted by the Shelburne and Port Clyde Fire Dept's and Emergency Health Services.

Highway 103 was closed between exits 27 and 28 as police investigated the crash that occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m.

RCMP say the vehicle was traveling eastbound on highway #103 left the road, rolled and crashed into a ditch. Preliminary investigation revealed that the passenger was ejected from the vehicle. RCMP Traffic analysts are at the scene and the cause of the crash has not been determined. The investigation is ongoing and traffic was rerouted onto highway #3.

Highway 103 was expected to be closed for a couple of hours, motorists should expect delays.
