THE COAST GUARD

There have been a rash of break-ins in the Churchover/Gunning Cove area over recent weeks.

The Shelburne RCMP is investigating three break-ins at seasonal residences that were vacant at the time.

Multiple items were stolen from two of the three homes.

Cpl. Mike O’Callaghan, supervisor for the Shelburne RCMP, said that he wasn’t sure why the third house did not have anything stolen from it.

“Maybe they got spooked,” he said.  “We just don’t know.”

The RCMP have released a list of the items stolen including a 50” television set, surround sound system with speakers, Senheiser Head Set model #RS116, box of costume jewelry, electrical tester, electrical tester box, Dewalt belt sander, 10 bottles of wine, 12 bottles of hard liquor, Tasco rifle scope, chair throw, plastic container, Black&Decker drill, 24 jars of preserves, three tote boxes, four life jackets, two Tilley summer hats, a painting, 20L of gas, one hand-made quilt, six boxes of shotgun shells, two boxes of .243 rifle shells, two boxes of .308 rifle shells, one ammunition case, air mattress, brass antique compass, brass antique sextant, antique decoy, 16” Husquvarna chainsaw, four glass Japanese net floats (green in colour).

The RCMP have been actively investigating these break-ins and are requesting that any members of the public that have information concerning the above noted items or the break-ins to call the Shelburne RCMP at 902-875-2490 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 902-426-4162
