A fire on Aug. 1 has destroyed a home on Sherose Island in Barrington Passage.
The call came in at 8:07 p.m., said Walter Scott, chief of the Island and Barrington Passage Volunteer Fire Department.
“We responded with everything we had,” said Scott. “When we arrived on the scene there was heavy smoke and heavy fire. We did an exterior attack on it and had the fire knocked down and under control in about an hour.”
The Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Volunteer Fire Department and the Barrington 7-E Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene, while East Pubnico and Port Clyde departments were on stand by.
The interior of the home was completely gutted, said Scott. No one was home at the time of the fire. The house was insured.
The cause of the fire was undetermined as of press time.
