Shelburne firefighters were battling a major house fire on Ann Street Friday afternoon. Flames shot from the historic home shortly before 3 p.m. and firefighters were greeted by a flames and smoke rolling from the structure. Several other Shelburne County departments were called in as back-up as firefighters attacked the blaze from the inside and outside. There were no serious injuries immediately being reported.

As evening approached firefighters appeared to have the majority of the fire knocked down but smoke was still rolling from areas of the heavily damaged building.
