The Coastguard Weeklies
Shelburne, Nova Scotia - www.thecoastguard.ca no-reply@transcontinentalmedia.com
The 2011-2012 lobster season off southwestern Nova Scotia has been anything but smooth sailing. The season started out with low prices in the fall, a vote on a split season, the establishment of a new lobster association in the winter, fishermen withholding their catches in January for a $5.50 price and fishermen going on strike in the spring as they sought a committed price for the rest of the season. Heck, even lobster tags delivered to fishermen in the fall were late this season.
