Former Barenaked Ladies singer to highlight Osprey anniversary celebrations
The Osprey Arts Centre in Shelburne will celebrate its 10th anniversary next summer with one of the biggest names in Canadian music, Steven Page.
The former lead singer with the Canadian pop rock super group Barenaked Ladies – will appear as the Osprey Arts Centre’s tenth anniversary headliner in Shelburne, Nova Scotia on July 13.
Page is best known as the voice behind such classics as “If I Had a Million Dollars” and “Brian Wilson,” but since he left the band in 2009, he’s been recording and touring on his own, currently in support of his third solo album A Different Sort of Solitude.
As part of the Barenaked Ladies, Page and band mates have sold over 15 million records to date. They wrote the themes to the smash TV sitcom Big Bang Theory and the cartoon sitcom King of the Hill. The band has landed many awards including seven Junos and two Grammy nominations.
For his appearance at the Osprey, Page will perform with co-writer and accompanist Craig Northey who has collaborated with the likes of Colin James and Roseanne Cash. He also wrote the themes to the Kids in the Hall movie called Brain Candy as well as the TV sitcom Corner Gas.
Perfect for an up close and personal concert experience, the Osprey’s main floor seating will be cabaret-style tables and chairs with tables of five and eight seats. The front row will be about five feet from the performers. There’s also a comfortable balcony with fixed, soft, theatre-style seating.
The Osprey presented its first performances in May 2003, making 2013 the Centre’s tenth anniversary.
Raffle tickets are now on sale for the Steven Page concert. The prize is a table of five on the main floor. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Osprey. Because the event is a special occasion with a special performer, management is also seeking sponsorship support. Those wishing to sponsor the event can contact the Osprey at 875-2359.
Tickets are now on sale for the only scheduled appearance of Steven Page in the Maritimes in 2013. All seats in the Shelburne theatre are $45.
Tickets are available by dropping by the Osprey at 107 Water Street in Shelburne or by calling the Osprey at (902) 875-2359. Messages for ticket purchases will be answered in the order in which they arrived. Tickets will be mailed to the purchaser immediately, so they can be given as Christmas presents.
