Hundreds of volunteers from across Shelburne County will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community at two banquets in celebration of national Volunteer Week (April 15-21).
The Volunteer Banquet for nominated volunteers and their guests from the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clark’s Harbour will be held this Thursday (April 12) at the Sea Breeze Rebekah Lodge in Clark’s Harbour starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Eastern Shelburne County Volunteer Recognition Reception will be held in the Lockeport Fire Hall on Tuesday April 17, starting at 7 p.m. Volunteers nominated from the Town of Lockeport, Town of Shelburne and the Municipality of Shelburne and their guests will attend.
Representative volunteers for each of the five municipal units in Shelburne County were among the 69 outstanding volunteers recognized at annual Provincial Volunteer Awards banquet in Halifax on April 2.
Shelburne County’s representative volunteers this year are: Cecil Atkinson, Town of Clark's Harbour, Elizabeth Rhuland, Town of Shelburne, Ken Beck, Town of Lockeport, Bill Acker, Municipality of Shelburne, and Shelly Perry, Municipality of Barrington.
