On Wednesday, Oct. 12, one of the Osprey’s most popular dance troupes returns to entertain elementary age children at 10:15 a.m. Children from several of Shelburne County’s elementary schools in grades 5 and 6 will be bused to the Osprey to see Circus Terrifico by Motus O Dance Theatre.
Circus Terrifico is the story of a group of clowns who have lost their tickets but somehow manage to board the train to their next engagement. While there they perform short and very funny versions of three famous ballets, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. Imagine these two women and two men as a chorus of swans and you get the picture.
Circus Terrifico will be touring the Maritimes and the Osprey is pleased to be part of this tour. Sponsored by Home and Schools, some donations and the Osprey itself, the Osprey’s Youth Performance Series has bused children to the Osprey for the past seven years to see professional children’s touring groups. Many children remember their first show at the Osprey and can recall their favorite details of the performances.
The Youth Performance Series is part of the Osprey’s mandate to bring the highest quality arts to all sections of our community, this time focusing on children.
Circus Terrifico is free to the children and any home schoolers are welcome to come as well. Adults who have an interest in children’s performing arts or just want to be entertained are invited to attend for the price of $10. Tickets will be at the door ½ hour before the show.
