A new award graces the counter at Charlotte Lane.
Taste of Nova Scotia handed out several awards on Nov. 29 at the annual TIANS conference as part of the annual Prestige Awards of Excellence. One of them had Charlotte Lane’s name written on it. The award won by this small (27-seat) restaurant located two hours down the south shore from Halifax, is “Best Restaurant, Chef Inspired Casual Dining.”
Chef/owner Roland Glauser accepted the award for the restaurant last week.
Glauser was moved by the public comments included in the nominations, some of which were read out loud to the crowd at the Schooner Room of Casino Halifax.
“It’s really a tribute to all of our staff that we have won this new ‘chef inspired casual dining’ award. I may be the chef and I am inspired by many things including the wonderful place we live and work and the great food grown here, but I’m also inspired by the dedication, loyalty and professionalism of our staff.”
This is the third Nova Scotia award won by Charlotte Lane in the past twelve months. Last year, they won the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia’s Best Small Restaurant of the Year, and in May Chef Roland won the Taste of Nova Scotia/Saltscapes Cutting Edge chef competition.
Charlotte Lane is open Tuesday to Saturdays until Dec. 22 and re-opens in early May.
