Construction work on the 17-acre business park in Barrington Passage is almost finished. The base layer of paving will soon be completed in the parkway as far as the power line.
After one frost season a second layer of paving will be put on that portion of the road next spring.
Initial work included 15-lot site preparation, upgrading of water mains and installation of fibre optics.
Power poles have been moved along Stirling’s Road and power will be installed in the remainder of the park, located behind the old Barrington High School, by mid-July.
The Government of Canada contributed $500,000 earlier this year to support Phase One of the project, an initiative aimed at improving Barrington’s capacity to attract and retain industrial and commercial companies. The municipality is contributing $315,000 towards the one million-dollar project.
The MacDonnell Group is providing engineering services for the design and construction of the business park.
